When I talk with coaching groups I am often asked to cover how coaches can increase their client base. It is probably one of the most difficult aspects of being a coach. Everyone who becomes a coach usually does so because they want to help others. They rarely are trained in the business development skills it requires to obtain a full book of clients.

All business requires marketing. Yet marketing can include advertising, speaking, nurturing referral relationships and even attending events.

When I speak about how coaches need to develop consistent marketing habits I offer the most productive techniques I have learned over the years. Applying even three of the seven techniques will typically increase a coaches client base by more than 50% within 6 months.

The goal is to insure these coaches always have enough business to be successful. It is difficult to portray a level of confidence to a new prospect if the coach personally is struggling to survive financially.
